Float My Boat
Ah yes, yesterday was the first day of work for this years seasonal staff at work. Only 2 of them scheduled for the first day. 1 returner & 1 newbie. The day started something like this: Welcome to work, let's go put the boat in the water! Now, for those of you who have either been on the boat or have seen pictures I've posted from last season, you know this is no small boat. It does weigh 12 tons after all. But I must say, yesterday was perhaps the best putting the boat in the water experience I've experienced and/or heard about! All went extremely smoothly, and we had beautiful weather, even with the wind.
I've felt really good these past couple of days. It's the weather! I'm telling ya - my body loves being out in the fresh air and sun shine, even if it is a bit on the cool side. After spending the winter indoors looking longingly out the window and in meetings or staring at my computer screen at work all day, all I have to say is this: It's about freaking time spring got here!!!!
Today work was equally good. We had an all staff training for history department crew. I let bits & pieces of it. My boss is taking advantage of my camp experience & having me do Icebreaker games & eventually maybe some team building exercises...it felt good to get back to some of that. I also got to lead a mini tour of our site, with some practical need to know info & mixed some history into it.
I've just stuffed myself with a homecooked dinner (fresh...no boxed food thank you very much!) And yes, I'm enjoying yet another episode of No Reservations on TV. Just outside my window it's still really light out and it's after 7pm! At last!!!! My plans for the rest of the evening include spending some quality time on my couch with a good book (I just started reading "As I Lay Dying" a couple of nights ago...not too far into it yet...I need to fix that), and some great tea.

I have felt so much better since the weather and later light started!
Sounds like work for you will get more fun now that it is nice!
I feel the same way every spring!
I can't believe you're reading Faulkner voluntarily. I hated that book when we read it in high school. Maybe you'll have a better experience.
Incidentally, that book is why I tell kids not to use Cliff's notes - they were incorrect in spots for this novel and a lot of kids didn't do so well on the quizzes/test :)
Make it on the bevel!
Yeah, I love feeling good thanks to good weather again. Work will be more fun since I'll get to spend much of the next 6 months outside...however, it'll be busy over the next month or two training all the newbies & finally getting my big project done (new handbook).
And this is the first Faulkner I've attempted. Let's just say that my required reading in H.S. left something to be desired. We didn't really read anything that most people our age had to read in H.S. Plus I lost a whole year of Lit. thanks to private school. Appartently Baptists are more concerned with grammer lessons & diagraming sentences than with actually putting that grammer knowledge to practice by actually reading something. Who knew?!
LOL - Well, I must say I'm jealous...I have missed No Reservations everytime I've been aware that it was going to be on - maybe one day I'll be able to catch an episode. Happy reading my dear!
I'm with ya on the spring thing. I love when the weather gets warm. Just puts me in a good mood all around.
