Rockin' It In The Real World!!!
Woo Hoo!!!! I just found out that I'm getting a scholarship (a.k.a. fellowship) that I applied for a couple of weeks ago for work. Work is sending me to a conference in Baton Rough, LA in June. So I applied for a fellowship with the organization & actually got it! How cool is that?! I'll be saving work almost $600 big ones! Brownie points from the bosses - always a good thing!
Anyways, I'm pretty excited about it. It'll be a pretty big boost for my resume. And part of the fellowship agreement is that the recipients (that's me) have to write an article for the organizations publication that comes out 3 or 4 times a year. So on top of saving work lots of money & having the award to put on my resume, I'll also be able to say that I've been published soon too! Pretty cool stuff!!!!

Thanks everybody! Neil - I'm not sure if I get to get all dressed up in my period clothes at this conference. The conference brocure didn't really say. I think this will be a little more academic than the other conferences I've gone to. It sounds like this one will be lots of people reading their papers to us (which bores me to death...if I want to read your paper, I can read it on my own...I don't go to conference for story time.) I hope it's not a stuffy conference. I'm looking forward to it! I get to tour lots of local Baton Rouge sites as part of the conference, so it'll be worth it regardless. Plus the networking opportunity alone is going to awesome!!! Thanks again for all the support everyone!
