More Pics of Northern Michigan

We spent a day in Mackinaw City & here at Colonial Michilimackac. Go figure - I'm on a mini-vaction & I'm out learning about history. I'm such a dork. It was a great day! We had a ton of fun & even learned a thing or two in the process.

Approaching the fort.

The forts walls from outside.

An entrance to the fort.

The church.

A cannon's view outside of the fort of the bridge.

Me, & my other set of parents doing the corny head through the hole pic opp.

The church steeple at Colonial Michilimackinac. Again, for a girl not interested in religion - yet another church.

A view of Lake Michigan from the boardwalk in Colonial Michilimackinac. I'm sure "boardwalk" isn't the offical name since it was used to keep an eye out for attackers, but it's the best I can come up with.

An awesome shot from the fort of the bridge.

This is cool lighthouse right next to the bridge & the fort.

This is a sea gull who was hanging out next to me while I was taking pictures...he wanted to be a star & posed for the camera.

I used to go up with my roommate and her family to Mackinac/Mackinaw and Ft. Michilimackinac for Labor Day weekend. The bridge walk is ridiculous, but tootling around the island was always fun.

Oh, and there's something disturbing about the photo of you and your other parents: the dog has no face. Otherwise, great pics!

Jason and I are thinking about doing the fort with Ella this september...we've never been there...just to the islands fort. Sounded like much more fun according to mom and dad. Glad you have a nice visit...pics are beautiful!

I love Mackinac! You can always tell the people who've never heard of it by their pronunciation of it :) We might go up next week if we have a day of bad weather in Alpena.
Did you go to Petosky at all? We love walking the beaches and looking for petosky stones. Used to have buckets of them in our garage.
