Spammers Smammers

Okay, can I just say that people using comments to blogs as an opportunity to spread their unwanted SPAM is really getting on my nerves. I've only ever got 1 up until today, which I promptly deleted. And on my last post I've gotten 2 Spam comments. What a pain in the butt. Urg.

Look at that...a post complaining about spammers leaving "comments" on blog posts, and someone leaves a spam comment. How appropriate.

You could enable captchas, but that will make it harder for people to leave comments for you. It will also not stop people like jacob who are just cruising the blogs and manually spamming you.

You could move to a different bloghost with better security features, but then you'd have to learn a new system.

It sucks, I know, but I think you are doing a great job removing the spam posts (I have never seen one) and maybe people will stop spamming you once they realize nobody is seeing it except you.

The CAPTCHAS that Sal mentioned are in the setting tab of your blog. I just enabled mine.
It is the little "type in the letters from the distorted image below" type of task. I don't think they are a big pain in general, but I have not seen enough on blogger to make that an imformed decision.
Just comment on mine to see the system.

My friend Su just turned on Word verification "captchas" and it stopped her spammers.

I don't know if it helps but I don't have my blog listed on Blogger's site (one of your options) and I haven'y gotten any spam yet.

Thanks guys. I haven't had a big problem with it...it was just annoying because the only 2 comments from my last post were spammers...annoying.
