"Hey, who are you?"

"Ah, the eternal question.
The eternal answer -
I don't know."

Is it Spring Yet?

I'm sick of winter. No really...I'm sick of winter. I've been battling a head cold this week. I feel a lot more like myself today than I did between Sunday & yesterday (although yesterday was the beginning of feeling better). This is the first time I've been sick since last winter (other than an upset stomach or two over the summer, but those were likely self inflicted from too much stress). At least my immune system has been doing a good job of keeping me healthy overall, & it seems to have kicked this out fairly quickly with the help of some drugs to help me breathe & sleep & eating lots of apple's & oranges to boost my germ fighters. Anyways, the bright side is that I'm feeling much better today than I had earlier in the week & I'm back on my feet again.

I get to work a short 5 to 6 hour day tomorrow thanks to having worked an 11.5 hour day yesterday, which means I get to leave early on a Friday! How cool is that?! I plan on spending the majority of my 3 day weekend laying low & resting up. I don't want to push it & do too much & up even sicker than I was this week. Being sick sucks. (& I wasn't even that bad...I've definitely felt worse in my lifetime). I'm looking forward to doing lots of reading, staying in PJs until whenever, watching TV here & there. Saturday I'm going to dinner for my Grandmother's birthday, but other than that, I plan on being a hermit in my apartment. Randy's weekend is full with boy stuff...gaming stuff I'm more than happy to let him do without me. (*wink, wink*).

Lots has been going on with work this week...meetings out the butt. Nothing too exciting though.

Oh, & Shannon, sorry I never returned your call...but being sick & all I just wasn't up for phone conversation ya know. I'll catch ya this weekend with our free minutes. ;-) More later.

Sunday Quote Blogging

"Until you find something to fight for, you settle for something to fight against."
~ Chuck Palahniuk from his novel Choke

This is from the current book I'm reading. A much quicker & easier read than Love in the Time of Cholera. I really did enjoy that one, but let's be honest - it was a difficult read. Very long, small print to make each page turn slower, the language a whole different flow. It was tough. Very glad I stuck it out & made it through though!

Anyways, this new book - Choke - is great! I'm only about a third of the way through, and so far it's everything I'd expect from Palahniuk. (His other books I've read include Fight Club, Survivor, Diary, & Lullaby. I would recommend all of them if you can handle a writer like this. He's not for everyone. But he's got a way of shining light in all of your dark places.) Thank you to those of you contributed to my wealth of book store gift certificates this holiday season - you chipped in to buy me this book! It's awesome! And I expect nothing less of this author.

Hmmm...what else is been going on life? Well, nothing too exciting. Randy & I had a nice dinner with my folks earlier this week. Valentines Day was quiet but nice. Randy cooked me an awesome dinner & we shared a bottle of bubbly. :-) Work is overwhelmingly busy, but good. I have many large projects on my plate right now & feel like I don't have much chance of actually getting them done by their deadline (but the deadline were very unrealistically set considering the size of the projects & the amount & size of other tasks I have to complete, so I guess I'll get done what I can get done when I can get it done). Nothing too exciting in my life at the moment.

"Ya know, white people only want to hear about the good shit. Life eternal, place in God's heaven. But as soon as ya hear you're gettin' all this good shit from a Black Jesus - ya freak! And that my friends is called hypocrisy. A black man can steal your stereo but he can't be your savior."

Hyper!!!

Thanks to my Little Brother, I've had this song stuck in my head for at least 3 days now (I checked his blog & he has it as his background music)...what can I say, it's catchy & fun. (I know this link was pretty popular around the web a couple of months ago, but if you haven't seen it yet, check it out...it's freakin' funny as hell!)

In other news, no dice on that other job. They did however offer me a summer "leadership position". Hmmm...hard decision - stay at a year round job that gives me benefits, or take a 10 week job for less pay & no benefits. Gee, I think I'll stay where I am. But thanks for the offer anyways. No big deal. I'm pretty happy that I made to the final 6 canidates, so no problem. And I really do have a lot of resume building opportunities at my current job these days, so it's just as well I stick around for at least a little bit. And this also means that I can renew my lease...at least for 4 to 6 months anyways (since I have the opportunity to go month to month after my year is up). I'm really comfy in my place & moving is such a pain in the ass. Sure I'd like a larger place, but it's not really too feasible right now unless I have a roommate to help with the higher rent & utilities. It's all good though.

Well, Randy is leaving me...for the weekend that is. He's headed to Cleveland for a full filled few days of boy stuff. Which means I get to entertain myself for the weekend. Tomorrow I'll probably just hang out at home & watch a movie I rented earlier this week that's due back tomorrow. Saturday I'm going to see Brokeback Mountain with my friend Angela. I miss working with her & chatting all the time...& we both chat a lot. :-)

The rest of the weekend will likely consist of doing some laundry & lots of curling up on the couch under a warm blanket with a good book. Life is good.

Belated Sunday Quote Blogging

"I mean what am I? I'm a middle-weight. I mean, I'm not the smartest guy in the world, but I'm certainly not the dumbest. I mean, I've read books like Umbareable Lightness of Being and Love in the Time of Cholera. And I think I've understood them...their about girls right? ... Just kidding."

~ John Cusack, High Fidelity

A fitting quote for my Monday thus far considering I've just finished reading Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. And it's about damn time. I've been reading this one for freakin' ever!!! Phew! I finally made it through it! Great book, but obviously not the easiest for me to get through. And now that it's finished I can finally move on to authors that I know and love and am longing to sink back into. I'll read more Marquez some day I'm sure, but I need to pick up something that I can finish in a reasonable time frame right now and get me confidence back up there. Phew.

Still no news on the job I interviewed for last week, but they did say I'd hear either way "in the next couple of weeks." So at this point, no news isn't bad news yet.

Congrats to Shannon on the big news! I hope it's everything you've been dreaming of!

Today was my last free Yoga class. And it was a tough one. Not because we were doing extremely hard poses (although they were all pretty challenging for beginners), but more because my muscles were really tight today. That of course makes the whole stretching thing a bit more challenging. My body just didn't want to be as flexible as it felt like it was getting to be over the past couple of weeks of Yoga. Nothing that's a big deal, but something I'll have to keep working on. I'm planning on picking up a Yoga video so I can keep practicing here at home. (Maybe I'll be able to fit that into the agenda later this afternoon.)
